Episode Notes

Episode 04 “Being a Female Entrepreneur PT. 2”

Welcome to the second episode of our 2-part series in honor of “Women’s History Month.” On this episode, we explore the role of equity in the female entrepreneurial world. We hear from 2 female business owners who share their experiences and journies to success.

Equality. This is the conversation we’re having during women’s history month. However, to give this topic justice, we need also to consider what part equity plays. Equity is the varying levels of support need to obtain true equality for people from different backgrounds.

Based on how you self-identify, the amount of equity needed to accomplish equality may vary. In our last episode, we covered a pretty broad view of what it’s like to be a woman in the entrepreneurial world. However, what we didn’t include is how the experience can vary from person to person.

Join us as we listen to the stories behind two successful female business founders: Kweighbaye Kotee and Laura Laban. They share their experiences honestly and openly, and the role their particular intersections had on their path to becoming successful entrepreneurs.

To close off this series, we are excited to include award-winning poet, writer, and activist Staceyann Chin’s, “Equality Now”; a spoken word piece she wrote for the National Equality March in 2009.
